Our Culture is steeped in suffering and difficulties. We make simple things hard and turn the pleasure of the moment into addiction. The ego’s demands never cease. Each day the ego demands more performance, more stuff, or that we get with the program and act right. Who we are is not enough; we must be more. Ego’s stringent and changeable standard is impossible to reach. When we reach our goal, the ego discounts our efforts and drives for more. Until we transform our platform of suffering, our lives are doomed to burdensome work and endless self- improvement. Now is the time to remember that everything can be easy or at least easier.
